Manchester United are set to schedule a meeting with Diogo Dalot as they look to seal a new contract for him, according to journalist Fabrizio Romano.
The Lowdown: Dalot impressing for Man United
The Portuguese defender has enjoyed an impressive season for the Red Devils so far, making the right-back spot his own since Erik ten Hag’s arrival.
Dalot has started 13 of United’s 14 Premier League matches in 2022/23, being hailed as a ‘very professional’ player by none other than Cristiano Ronaldo.
The 23-year-old’s current deal expires at the end of next season, though, and there has been interest from other clubs, most notably Barcelona.
The Latest: New meeting planned
Speaking to GiveMeSport, Romano claimed that United are continuing to work hard on a new deal for Dalot, with further talks planned between club and player.
The Italian stated:
“For Diogo Dalot, there is a meeting scheduled; it was already decided before the World Cup to meet after the World Cup and discuss a new contract; United are super happy with him.”

The Verdict: Need to keep him
Dalot would be a huge loss to United at this point in his career, with the Portugal international arguably one of Europe’s best young full-backs on current form.

He has proven to be a key player with Ten Hag in charge, averaging 2.1 tackles per game in the league this season (second-highest in the squad), and he has rendered Aaron Wan-Bissaka peripheral to the point where the latter has been strongly linked with an exit from Old Trafford next month.
Dalot can be a big part of United’s future if they manage to tie him down to a new and improved contract, hopefully maturing into an even more formidable player over time.
